Polish Craft Beer Project
In 2019, I was approached by photographer,Victor Albrow, and graphic designer, Dawid Nabialek, to collaborate on a design project for a Polish craft beer startup. The goal was to create a series of surface patterns suitable for craft beer labels, reflecting the unique flavors of each beer. I was provided with some samples of the ingredients so I could incorporate them into the actual paint mixtures, adding a personal touch to the designs.
The photographer required the designs to be on a very smooth surface to ensure a perfect finish, so canvas was not suitable due to the weave being slightly visible. To achieve this, birch panels were used as the substrate for the artwork, finishing with a mat varnish to avoid glare in the photos.

Unfortunately, the project was put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the designs being approved, the beer couldn't be brewed or launched at that time. However, in 2022, the first beer was finally produced by Browar Sarabanda! The craft beer range has since expanded significantly. These beers consistently receive rave reviews, are featured at Polish beer festivals, and have even earned an award for their exceptional label design and packaging.
Sadly they're not yet available to purchase in the UK, but look out for them if you're planning a trip to Poland!
The original artworks ready to be packaged up and shipped off to the graphic designer, Dawid Nabialek, who is based in Edinburgh.
Not only was this project incredibly enjoyable, but it also played a crucial role in boosting my confidence early in my painting career. Seeing my work admired and valued by others, and knowing that there was a market for it, was a significant milestone that fueled my artistic journey.
